Kra-bye

How are we all?

Dying to hear what we've been up to?

Well, alright then. I'll tell you.

The work on Chitty's place was taking longer than anticipated, so after spending a few lazy but lovely days reading, relaxing, drinking tea and eating in Thung Song, Moo and I decided that it was time to take ourselves off on another adventure.

Tea Time in Thung Song

It was soon decided that Krabi was close enough for a short trip, so off we went with our backpack and Bible (TripAdvisor), anticipating another sunny break. We were met with rain.

I know there's a part of you that is somewhat pleased to read this. I saw the smile that crept across your face when you read the word 'rain'. But you can wipe that off, thank you very much, because it lasted for one very bearable hour. And then it was sunny again - SO THERE!

So, after talking to our extremely lovely hostel owner (Aom @ Dream Catcher Hostel, Ao Nang), we took the decision to go kayaking in Ao Thalane Bay the following day. What a splendid decision that was. I've never been anywhere in the world quite so serene. Unfortunately, the peace was frequently disturbed by the sound of Moo huffing and puffing behind me, trying to get the kayak moving beneath our (her) tremendous weight, but hats off to her - she somehow managed to do it.

Naturally, we were exhausted after our first day of real exercise in Thailand, so we spent the rest of the afternoon drifting in and out of sleep on the beach (which was right on the doorstep of our hostel - jealous?), until we were approached by a fellow beach dwelling traveller from Finland, who only asked Moo for the time but was somehow roped into keeping us company until the tide was touching our toes! We made dinner plans with him and 2 others from our hostel, and spent the night talking about life's most important things - cheese and chocolate. Pretty perfect if you ask me.

The filter on this picture makes the water seem murkier than it really is, honest.

Pure. Bliss.

"No Crocodiles - only Anacondas, hahaha" (is he joking or what?)

The following day, Moo, myself and one of the guys from her hostel took a trip on a longtail boat to see the Hong Islands. This would be Moo's second opportunity to go snorkelling. I think she's officially addicted. We swam in lagoons, ate lunch on the beach, leapt off of our boat into the sea and finally returned back to the mainland, exhausted and covered in sand. In the evening we went for dinner in a reggae bar not far from our hostel with the guys again (minus one Finn, plus one Brazillian), and took a slightly merry stroll along the beach. We ended up stumbling upon a fire show, having a couple of games of Pool, making (and quickly losing) a local Thai friend, and eventually headbanging in a bar to a heavy rock band.

Moo and I returned to Thung Song the next day for a dinner party hosted by Chitty's friends. We have decided that we aren't ready to leave Thailand. And that's not just because of the amazing food, weather, scenery or iced coffees. Its because of the people.

We have to say goodbye to Chitty's family tonight, as we'll leave for Bangkok via Hua Hin early tomorrow morning. How will we do it? I don't know. The thought of saying goodbye makes us very emotional, as if we were saying goodbye to our own family. But that's because we now feel like a part of theirs.

We've officially exhausted them

The journey continues though, and I hope to see them all again one day. Even if it means leaving Moo behind and returning just as myself. Because you know what trouble she can be, don't you?

From one nutty Moo to another.
